Welcome to the Brogo community website

This website is designed to be an information portal for the wonderful folk that live in Brogo and for anyone looking to gain information about the area and our community.

We are a small, vibrant, multi-cultural community of people from all walks of life. We hold a variety of community events from time to time, as well as a regular community food swap (as seen on 1st season of River Cottage Australia). We value the environment in which we live with all the natural beauty and diversity that abounds. With an average of just 2 people per square kilometre, if it's peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle you are after, then you have found the ideal place.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Brogo, we have a variety of different accommodation options available.

About Brogo

The locality of Brogo lies towards the northern end of the beautiful Bega Valley, approximately 20km from the township of Bega itself. Wadbilliga National Park provides a stunning backdrop to the west, of which 400km² is catchment for the pristine waters of the Brogo River which meanders through the heart of Brogo. One of the features of the area is the Brogo Dam, which was constructed in 1976 to provide a reliable supply of fresh water to the dairy industry within the valley, and to the townships of Quaama, Cobargo and Bermagui. The Brogo Dam is a popular recreational spot for both locals and visitors to the area. Some of the activities you can enjoy at the dam include fishing, sailing, canoeing, bushwalking, swimming, and camping. A boat ramp is accessible to the south of the dam wall and there is an 8kph speed limit for power boats. Picnic and toilet facilities are located nearby.
